New federal funds could help North Dakota pay for DAPL costs

WASHINGTON — A bipartisan government spending bill announced late Sunday includes federal funds that could be a first step toward reimbursing North Dakota for costs to respond to Dakota Access Pipeline protests.
The spending bill includes $15 million for the Emergency Federal Law Enforcement Assistance Program, which provides funds to help state and local law enforcement respond to serious threats to public safety.
